Neil Johnson

Board Member

Neil was born in Portland, Oregon. He has lived in Oregon, California, Washington, Colorado, back to California and finally to Texas where he put down roots for the last 30 years. When he was nine years old, his mother led him to Christ.

Neil served in the United States Navy, mainly in the Philippines. He earned a Bachelor of Theology degree from Multnomah Bible College, now Multnomah University, in Portland, Oregon. After graduating, Neil pursued business as a career and a ministry. As a self-employed settlement planner, Neil financially counsels and ministers to many people whose lives have been turned upside down by tragedy and are grieving the loss of a spouse, parent or child, or are seriously injured themselves. Neil's job is to help design a settlement package that will give them lifetime financial security, but he often can also minister to them. Neil says "God doesn't call every Christian to serve as a pastor or missionary, but He does call each of us to a life of ministry whether by flipping hamburgers, sitting in a business office, or standing behind a pulpit."

Neil is the father of four children, three of whom are still living, and 7 grandchildren. After the death of the children's mother, Leah, Neil's wife of 49 years, he married his current wife, Mara. Together they serve the Lord in the Dallas area. Neil has taught Bible in churches for more than 50 years and served as an interim pastor. Though he recently turned 80, Neil has no plans to retire; instead, he is exploring new ministry opportunities. Neil has had the privilege of team-teaching the Bible with Paul in China on two occasions, the last being as recently as May of 2017. "The passion of my heart is for the community of believers to become one".
